At Santa Cruz Rug Cleaners we use a multi-step process designed specifically to address each unique trait of every rug that comes through our front door, without compromising quality. All rugs, whether they are handmade or machine made, go through the steps described below.

Step #1
Pre-cleaning Inspection
The purpose of the pre-cleaning inspection is to determine the pre-existing conditions, concerns, and colorfastness.

Step #2
Front and Back of Rug Rinsing
Both front and back of rugs need to be rinsed. If rugs are not thoroughly rinsed, resoling and fiber deterioration can occur.

Step #3
Optional Rug Enzyme Bath
If necessary, an Enzyme bath can be performed in order to address any residual urine stain issues that might be present in your rug.

Step #4
Fringe and Rug Pile Grooming
Setting the pile and combing out the fringe is a very important step. It can either make or break the look of the rug.

Step #5
Compressed Air Rug Dusting
Thorough dusting using compressed air is the method that is tough enough to get the deepest of dirt out of foundations, yet gentle enough to make sure that the integrity of the rug is not harmed.

Step #6
Total Immersion Rug Washing
The total immersion washing method is designed to provide the most thorough cleaning. Based on the type of the rug, it is submerged or surface washed and then scrubbed and rinsed thoroughly.

Step #7
Rug Drying in Dry Room
Drying the rugs is as important as cleaning. If you leave them wet, you’ll set off mold and mildew, so it’s critical to dry them thoroughly. We dry all rugs in our temperature controlled dry room.

Step #8
Post Cleaning Rug Inspection
The last step in rug cleaning procedure is the post cleaning rug inspection and specialty spotting of the residual stains that were not completely removed during the cleaning process. *
* (Step 8) This excludes permanent stains that are identified in the pre-inspection.
