How to Handle Carpet Stains Like a Pro

1. Act Immediately. The longer a spill sits, the more likely it becomes a permanent stain. Quick action gives you the best chance of complete removal.
2. Blot, Don't Scrub. Use a dry, white cloth or plain white paper towel to blot up as much liquid as possible. Never scrub — that can distort the pile and push the stain deeper.
3. Remove Solids Gently. For semi-solid spills, scoop with a rounded spoon. For dry solids, break up and vacuum thoroughly.
4. Pretest Your Cleaning Solution. Always test in an inconspicuous area:
   • Apply a few drops to the test spot.
   • Press a white cloth onto it for 10 seconds.
   • Check the cloth and carpet for color transfer, fading, or damage. If anything changes, switch products.
5. Apply & Blot Gently. Dampen a clean white cloth with your chosen solution.
   • Work from the outside in to avoid spreading.
   • Blot — don't rub.
   • Rotate to clean areas of the cloth until no more stain transfers.
6. Repeat if Needed. Stubborn stains may take a few rounds. Stay patient and gentle.
7. Rinse & Dry Thoroughly. Rinse the area with cold water to remove residue — leftover cleaner can cause rapid re-soiling. Blot dry well.
8. Use Absorbent Towels for Drying. Layer white paper towels over the spot and weigh down with a flat, heavy object. Replace towels as they wick moisture until fully dry.
